A little catch up of the last two weeks...

I want to catch you up on what I have been doing for the last two weeks. I am still getting settled in, but have a couple duties assigned to me right now. I put in about 7 hours last week because of the weather but did work on a lot at my house. We have a membership drive coming up and have the lovely honor of creating the brochure for it! How exciting! Shagah is telling me to be creative and adventurous. Luckily, I have some experiences with InDesign (hints why I got this internship) so it's fun putting skills I have learned in the classroom to the test. The logo is lacking so Shagah is having me design a new "look" to get the audiences attention.

I am getting familiar with NAC's social media. I am eventually going to start updating them daily with new events and different things going on. I will eventually start making posts to the Web site. Mainly right now I am "getting familiar" with the ways of my internship. I am just getting comfortable with the databases.

Rick Fry, executive director of NAC, had a meeting with me on Wednesday talking about how confident he thinks I am...which I totally took as a compliment. He wanted to let me know to never be afraid of making mistakes. This is probably the best advice I have ever gotten from a boss...haha. He told me the only way I could never make a mistake is if I didn't contribute to anything here.

Rick also talked to me about a couple events coming up he wanted me to get familiar with...don't ask me what they were because I kind of forgot but I'll keep you posted when I go in tomorrow. We also brain stormed about one of the campaign groups from campaigns coming in to ask some questions about NAC. I liked it because I got to contribute to a class I have next semester. Almost like getting a taste of what that class is all about. We made some goals for the group: increase availibility of NAC, increase popularity of NAC, and ask the question as to why NAC is not well advertised to the consumer? and why Norman campus and downtown Norman don't go hand and hand when it comes to the arts of the community? They have to come up with most of the set goals...I mean that's the whole point of the class, Rick just wanted to get a feel as to what was going on since this was his first year to be part of campaigns.

I can't really think of anything else to talk about. Hopefully you have an idea of what I do. So with that said, I am excited for tomorrow. It's my long day. I'll have to show
you either tomorrow or next week my final draft of the membershop forum I am working on.

Until next time...

Katie
